I came here from Seattle. I couldn’t find anywhere so I was camping on the beach by myself. I didn’t feel safe and I heard about HOPE through a friend. They helped me with meals and transitional housing, but the most helpful service was just providing me information. They had all the applications to low income housing and they knew where things are located. They told me where and when I could take classes for substitute teaching. Classes, jobs, and housing….HOPE can help with that. I’m still in the West Hawaii Shelter, but now I have gotten a job and I’m trying to find more permanent housing. I used to feel scared out camping alone and here at the Shelter I feel safe. Other than housing , my goal is to someday have a successful art show.
