Resources for those displaced by lava eruptions

Housing Assistance:

Hope Services Hawaii is providing financial assistance to assist with rental deposit and rent for those who qualify. Displaced households can go to and search for available rental units. Those who want to offer housing can register at the same site.

Hope Services Hawaii matches requests for permanent housing received from the Recovery Information and Assistance Center in Pahoa to the available units, prioritizing families with children under the age of 18. The Recovery and Information Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00AM-3:00PM, and located at 15-3022 Kauhale Street in Pahoa.

If you need housing assistance but are unable to go to the Recovery Information and Assistance Center during normal operating hours, please print and complete the Intake Form to get the help you need. Please route completed forms to Neighborhood Place of Puna, 16-105 Opukahaia Street, Keaau HI 96749 or call (808) 965-5550. You can also access the Disaster Assistance Packet_fillable if you have identified a unit and need housing assistance.

Since launching this initiative on May 22nd, with funding provided by the Hawaii Island United Way, 18 households consisting of 37 adults and 19 children have received housing assistance. More than 270 households have requested assistance for permanent housing.
