On Saturday, September 29th, Hale Iki Village, the 10 micro-unit family lava shelter in Hawaiian Paradise Park, celebrated its official Grand Opening. Pastor Dion Maeda of Connect Point Church, who spearheaded the project, welcomed members of the community who had participated in everything from donating materials, to constructing the units to providing food for volunteers and residents. We’re proud to announce that we will be taking on the management of this shelter, as we continue to manage our other micro-housing units, the Sacred Heart Shelter for lava refugees in Pahoa.
But the truth is, we could not have done it without your support. Mahalo for your continued generosity, for all donations, big and small, and for talking about the needs of the community and our efforts to meet them. It is because of you that we are able to continue and expand our work.
