HOPE Services Hawaii is “going green” and taking recycling to a new level…with the help of Catholic parishioners, we are now redeeming houses! Slated for demolition in February of this year, the 20-housing units of Kawaihae Transitional Housing Program buildings were transported 85 miles across the Big Island…and landed on diocesan property in Pahoa next to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Kupuna Housing Project is a partnership with the Parish, HOPE Services Hawaii and the Catholic Diocese – Office of Affordable Housing & Office for Social Ministry, University of Hawaii School of Architecture and the County, coming together to renovate, refurbish & reuse these 20 homes and provide affordable housing opportunities for Big Island’s Kupuna.
