When I was 24 I became homeless….I felt I was being rejected from my family and I left. I have anti-social phobias and I started sleeping in bushes, hiding. I felt horrible. I had had a few suicide attempts and I felt helpless. I didn’t want to be seen in public. At first I was staying at Kings Landing, about 3 months slowly I came out and started staying at Wailoa Park on the benches for another 6 months.

An outreach worker from HOPE Services approached Justin, and asked him if he needed help. He accepted and began talking classes (learning about how to be a renter, how to find work). He eventually got a completion certificate and within that month, he was able to obtain housing.

I’m happy for everything HOPE has done for me. I’m happy to have a home. I volunteer for HOPE in the maintenance department. I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot of goals today. And I feel like there is more to accomplish…I would like to go back to school and take up agriculture.
